My wilson 17' looks like there is about a tonne of weed around the side, so probably loads underneath too. Still the thing is she will only get to 4000 - 4500 rpm w o t and do 9 kts max !!!!! Is it due to the weed fouling or something to do with the engine? Can anyone offer any ideas on this please. When I first had the boat she done 19 kts and the revs got to 5000 - 5500 rpm.

i would think the weed is proberly the problem clean the bottom and then try it would be the easier and cheaper first option if it solves the problem you havent had the expense of paying someone to look at it youll also get a better fuel return

If you can find where the yachties tie up on the "scrubbing posts" this would be the best location as normally there are wooden beams for the boat to rest on so allowing you access to the majority of the underside of the hull.

u need to get rid of the weed ,if there is no improvement you may have water under your deck sometimes the wooden stringers (put under deck and glassed over as strengtheners come loose and wear through hull.this allows water in increases the weight of boat and inhibits its performance.this could mean cutting away deck drying out and repairing. not a difficult job but time consuming.don"t want to worry you but it can happen.still cheaper than buying new boat. a friend of mine had this problem and successfully repaired the problem,i'm sure the boat maker would give you advice or even carry out the work regards Trigger
