Last week I got out for one hour before the wind started to blow and had to pack up, just caught whiting. Hardly worth mentioning, but as you asked. It looks like its going to be a while before any kayak fishing is done along the South coast.

No need to paddle more than a mile to catch cod around here.

Here: I had a look around the Sandgate area for a good launch site. A previous post raised concerns about parking in the Lower Leas Park, due to tales of cars being broken into but the worst thieves in that area are the council who want a £1 an hour, so forget it. There is free parking at the end of Sangate Esplanade N 51 04' 21.6'' E 001 08' 23.2'' or Granville Rd N 51 04' 23.7 E 001 08' 46.8'' This is a short road adjacent the sea front and has limited spaces. The distance to the Metropole rocks N51 04' 18'' E001 10' 00'' is only 1.2 miles, If you leave 2hr before high there is no tide so a 20 min paddle should get you there. The flow over high is in an easterly direction up to about 2knts on a spring which is the best fishing time, I'm told. A return paddle on the slack at +4hrs HT would avoid a struggle. There is a nice depth of water off the Sangate Riviera, about 60ft at 1 mile around waypoint N51 03' 27'' E001 08' 36''. Both marks are possible on a single tide.
