be easier just to take the broken ring off and tape a new one in place, better safe than have the line go on a fish as its cut through on a damaged eye ........ maybe the liner could be pushed back in , if it does try a small dab of superglue to hold it in place

maybe the liner could be pushed back in , if it does try a small dab of superglue to hold it in place Super glue (Cyanoacrylate) is water soluble. Big surprise for a lot of fishing folk, but it does dissolve with prolonged water contact. Hot melt glue which is quite brittle is ideal for tip rings where there is a large contact area but not so good where the contact area is small (Such as a ring liner) Twin pack epoxy on the other hand, is pretty much bullet proof and is probably a better solution for this application.

how would the desired eye be removed without any real damage to the rods apperance ?? use a really sharp blade(stanley knife, scalpal) and cut the whipping on the RING FOOT...being careful not to take a chunk out the rod or your fingers !!!!!!!....peel this away and you should be able to wiggle the ring free.........when youve done this remove the rest of the whipping and replace the ring

Take it to Paul Jackson in Scotties in Sandown, he'll replace it for about £7 and you'll never know which ring has been done.
