Looks like a pigeon They can be mistaken for pigeon from certain angles, especially front on, wings static. one swooped on my pigeon decoys at dusk years ago, and i shot it . i beat myself up over that for weeks, i've never felt so ashamed in my life :dummy:

I saw one early in the morning walking down Belvedere St in Ryde that had just hammered a Ring Necked Dove, because it saw me coming it tried to take off with it but it was to heavy,it let go of the Dove which promptly took off, flew straight across the road and went head first into a wall on the other side(I think its gyro was knact)quite comical, the Sparrow Hawk didnt follow up with the assault tho.Ive also seen one on the old tram lines down Ryde Pier winkling out Squabs from underneath the pier, they are crafty beggars, beautifully marked as well, especially the males. Its always struck me as strange how its the males that are better looking in the Avian world and the girls in ours...................well,most of em anyway

sparrowhawk must have thought he was a jay, as it was doing a bit of jaywalking across the road!
