Still in the digital camp boys, i am gonna get the lad a digi camera for crimbo as his last one has gone tits up. i think i have decided on a Panasonic Lumix fz 38, seems to have everything needed for taking fish pics, unless someone can tell me otherwise of course, me not being camera savy,
Jessops want to drink my blood for it so i want to buy on line, but i am not sure who i can trust, anyone got any info on a good online dealer?

We brought one about a month ago,got it directly from Panasonic shop in Staines....and yes paid top dollar.
So far have left it in IA mode(auto) so that we can go straight from wide angle to zooooom to micro if need be,that said if you click the dial to each seperate mode it offers you 3 or 4 optical options.
Flash strength is improved on FZ20 model that we already have, although there is NO hotshoe so the built in flash will have to cover everything.
Start up is excellent,as if you aim at your target and click the on button it takes 2.5 secs approx to enable to fire the shutter.
Loads more built in software, that will give you fun usage.
Much lighter in weight than our previous model, and can be easily controlled with one hand and you can easily flick to different modes with your thumb/forefinger.
I did see a few new ones for sale on Fleabay at a cheaper price but jude had already done the deed with Panasonic.
Good Hunting....as its a great bit of kit in its price bracket.

Yeah digi is the only way to go. Salter have a good name but i know of at least 2 of my mates salters being dodgy. I have some berkley ones. They have been accurate to the knuckle for over 5 years, survived at least one dunking and the battery has never shown the slightest sign of giving up the ghost (probably due to under use ) The problem with them is they weigh the decimal from one to nine. So 0.1 on them, is actually 1.6oz and 0.5 is actually 8oz, if you see what i mean. Stevies balance scales are always an option. I take it they take good pics then dave

Max, there are a few good online stores to get a camera from, such as...Warehouse express, Parks cameras, Walters video etc, warehouse and parks - superb! Find first what type of photographs that your nips takes before buying a camera for him, different cameras for different occasions. The panasonic that seems to have hit the right note is the lx3 or the gf1, the olympus ep1 is worth having a look at but it does depend on how much you want to spend.

Phew!! camera got here at 08.50 this morning :win: , ordered yesterday at 11am, all exactly as ordered. thats what i call service. This is who i got it from, the reason i went for these guys is, they have a landline number and an address that i happen to know from my old stomping days, they were cheap, and the bloke seemed like a good geezer when i spoke to him on the blower, so i can recommend them based on this experience. www.sundigital.co.uk/products/show/panasonic-dmcfz38ebk-digital-camera--black?gclid=CO_vkbfPyZ4CFZQA4wodzRA2rwCamera looks the nads, He's gonna be well chuffed with it Christmas morning.
