Just wondered if anyone knows anything about these engines as I can find very little about them? steyr 236 turbo diesel 212 hp  Andy |

I think the main dealer is Mermaid in Ferndown.
One of our club members has one of these engines and had a few problems 12 months ago but it is all sorted now but took some time.

i looked into these engines a while back ,the biggest problem with these engine is they have alloy heads so when you start getting problems with the blocks you can only throw it a way .
i asked monkeynuts as he knows all about these engines

have been watching that boat for the last six months ,it has droped from £18.000 ,i reckon he would take a low offer ,if he said yes then run the boat untill the engine bugger up then go and get a better engine

Avoid it like the plague mate. A lot of our rescue boats are fitted with them and are a constant nightmare! Fuel pumps siezing, turbos choking up with soot, electrical faults you name it, it will go wrong! Also they are a nightmare to work on, every thing is fitted in the most awkward place possible!

great engine when things are good , but soon as the honeymoon finish's they go to the cleaners on your wallet and patience. steer clear unless its a bargain you want to move on for a profit in quick time

i have just been to see a raider which i do believe i am going to buy .what can you tell me about the the lay out in your raider which is the same as the boat i am looking at and sunnys raider .are they both raider fisherman or is it that sunnys is how they were designed before and now they are left open as in yours ..also what is this polish or english build stuff.i have seen on the wsf forum they have been having a right old row about it .i have got to make my mind up and commit tommorow or this boat will be gone .
