Just a quick question to mainly Warrior 165 owners. what is the best hp aux engine to use and what shaft length if I'm fitting a bracket? Is it possible to clamp on the transom alongside the main engine? I emailed Warrior boats a couple of times with this question but they never answered.
Looking for a 4stroke - preferably a Yam but any reasonable engine considered.
Rich.

I had a 4hp on mine which worked ok. Needs to be long shaft model. Depending how far out you travel and tides in your area but if you could get a 5 or 6hp at least you could fight against the strongest tide. As a thought you might consider getting a light 4-stroke or go 2-stroke to help keep the weight down off the back of the boat. I have never seen an auxilary fitted on the transom of a Warrior but I suspect the biggest problem will be keeping it out of the way of the main engine to allow full turning angles. Good hunting Dave

Cheers for that Dave, I used to have a yam 15 on the transom of my old 17' pilot dory many years ago(till it got stolen) and it worked a treat but didnt have the high sides the Warrior has and I suspect steering the auxiliary may prove to be the problem.

I'm surprised Warrior's haven't answered your emails, they've always answered mine very quickly.
I use this address paulhaynes@warriorboats.co.uk

hiya m8 have u fitted that 50hp yam on yet ? Starting soon, meant to bring the boat home new year weekend but went out to use the last of the fuel up instead ( bl**dy cold and not much to show for it) so will bring her home when the weather lets me, probably next weekend then we'll start. Cheers Brian, I think Daves covered most of what I asked them. Rich
