Hello i was reading somewhere with interest about using pig and / or lamb liver as bait. lambs liver being the best because its tougher. it contains high levels of iodine that is also found in worms and all shellfish (also dogfish and rays ) iodine is also used in most chum oils like ultrabite ect..... its proven to get the fish on the feed too i know most traditional baits cant be beaten but i think its worth a crack just out of interest as its very cheap and you never no anyone used it to any effect? i might give it a whizz next time i go out.

I will not and refuse to have my liver rammed into said hairnet skates liver is staying put..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After my dimise, elpyaself Minced liver/steak mince and mashed bread have long been a good groundbait for chub fishing with slivers of liver or steak on the hook but have very little or no casting potential so I guess bass or mullet at close quarters might be the target.....would be interested if any sea anglers have ever bothered with it other than rubby dubby/chum for sharking.

in the channel islands some good mullet anglers will use meats.....liver, small pieces of steak, beef etc for hook baits and also mix in the shirvy(groundbait)
even saw a good angler mix in a couple tins of pilchards into mashed bread to create a groundbait mix.........all worth a try

Years ago when I was at sea, we used to do a lot of fishing over the side of the ships and by trial and error found that Chicken livers were a red hot bait for Dabs!!. Unfortunately they are so soft that casting them from the shore would be virtually impossible but I would certainly use them as a bait again from a boat.
