Hi i am wanting to turn an old beachcaster into an uptider. The rod is by what i can see is a Century (formula) ts155T The tip is about 7ft with a 5ft butt, now do i just cut of 3ft leaving me a rod that will be 9ft,but will only give me 2ft for the butt section ? and leverage will be poor i would think. can any1 help or give advise on this subject ? Thanks in advance.

Hi Curtis,
I've tried this myself and it's a bit tricky. I wouldn't go as short as 9ft. 10ft is managable on most boats. 3ft should then be enough for a butt suitable for safe casting from a boat. The most disapointing aspect might be the tip. I don't know the blank you've got but the tip may not be soft enough to bend in the tide and stop your lead from pulling out as the boat moves around. You should be okay if it's a softer beachcaster.
Good luck. Lets us know how the conversion goes.
