I squeezed a few hours on the boat today managed to get the frame ‘tacked-on’ with a few fixings; but awaiting some Button Cap M8s through the post for the final fit.
Trouble with going up on the roof is it has made me realise just how much cosmetic work needs done to the roof.
The photos show the rear whip-antenna plate….for the AIS Transceiver. The other 3 antenna mounts will be on folding ratchet mounts to allow folding back so I can get out under the bridge. The pictures also show the lugs for the deck lights.
The down posts strengthen the roof, transfer energy down to the deck when pounding waves and are good handholds.
The only problem was that the down posts for the arch have taken the spot occupied by the cleats. So the solution was to cut-n-cap the side handrails ….leaving a space for the new cleats (to be fitted). The first photo below shows what they look like factory spec….
Then with the changes made to the handrail and the arch down-post in position. Some cleaning of the gel-coat was necessary; but no different to the rest of the boat, so it was good to make a start on shinning up
Which took me through until it got dark…so just time to finish the quick-fit system for the electrics. This will allow me TO REMOVE ALL OF MY ELECTRONICS EVERY TRIP.
The board takes 10 seconds to take down, so no hassle and peace of mind when I’m not there.
I’m looking at getting an Advansea AIS Class B Transceiver when they come out in March as they will be plug-n-play; unlike all the other brands which are permanently fixed items (easily stolen). I’ll fix my AIS to the removable electrics board.
