I haven’t had much time lately for the boat… but a few hours here and a slap of paint there has been possible.
I made the mistake of applying a coat of 2-pack paint on the console with a really cold frost that night. In the morning there were ice crystals growing out of the still soft paint !!!!
So I hoped that once the day warmed that the paint would be okay, but it hardened off with creases everywhere. So I was forced to rub it down and start again. Finally happy with the result
At last time to put the instruments back and get the switch panels on. This then allowed me to get stuck back in with the electrics behind the console; re-wiring and adding new systems
My box of shrink connectors had also arrived from the States…they have the best and cheapest connectors anywhere; quality and they look 10x better than crimp connections
First up…the old rev counter fuse…. The old and new compared
Nice & neat; ready to be tucked up out of the way
But then it was time to start bringing in all the data cables for the plotters, network system and transducer. Its only just starting and looks like spaghetti junction. Got tons more cables to bring in ….after which I will go to work with the spiral cable tidy; so it won’t look as disorganised at the end. At least the shrink connectors make the fuse panel look a little better and they take up less room on a crowded panel
Final task of the day was to fit the Battery Switchover panel…as I plan to have two batteries
