Was going to get another Firefly when I had saved my pennies but sadly they have had to pack up. Still want a fresh rod but it has to fit a certain bill:- 1. Full Carbon, 2. Rated up to 200 grammes. 3. three piece for ease of transport. 12/13 ft or 3.90 metres. 4. Not too dear. There are two which seem to fit the bill:- a) Fladen Maxx b) Fox Legacy Also possibly the Penn Powerstix but I think it's too tip floppy. (I know the Sandstorm is too tip floppy too so don't mention it folks.) So, does anyone know these rods? Are they fairly stiff but still "bendable"? Any other suggestions (except Century, Grauvell, Zziplex, which are too dear?

Went for a browse round two or three tackle shops today. Got told that the Foxes aren't up to much for the money so looks like I will be going for the Fladen Maxx

Did anyone say that the Faden was good then? or are you just presuming it is because no one had an opinion?
I have never had experience of either rod but have had experience of both 3 piece and cheap rods and would never go back to either by choice.
Save you money and get something with a bit of pedigree and reputation

managed to pick up a firefly silhoutte shortly before they went down - waiting for a chance to to try her out.
work and weather are seriously getting in the way in recent months
serious suggestion - try contacting them direct - be surprised if they don't still have some blanks lying around - if they do you might get lucky yet
from what i'm looking at here she'd be worth a go ....

Think you will be quite happy with it Purple but Gordon was thinking of producing an improved model along lines suggested by me before they decided to close. Basically it would have entailed less and wider rings for the fixed spool version plus a stiffer tip to obtain a bit more power. If he had done that, it would have been a really class rod with enough shove to chuck a six once sinker a long way and that is what I was hoping for. I have now ordered an Abu Hellbender - more money tis true than what Firefly would have charged but fortunately found one at a knock down price.
