I have been talking to nick ( sunny ) about doing a VHF marine radio course , and he him self would like to do the new DSC radio course for the new equiptment he has on his new project of a boat so i have spoken to ( ANDY B ) about arranging this coure as his father runs and owns a well established power boat traing school based in lymington hampshire .. Andy B is going to put a post this site about intrests of whome might want to partisipate in gaining the NEW VHF DSC MARINE RADIO OPPERATERS LICENCE for person and vessels.

MARINE VHF RADIO DSC . GMDSS COURSE

Hi All,

I have been approach by Jack (cast from the past ) and Nick (sunny ) about a strong interest in gaining the new licence for VHF DSC marine licence.
I have managed to negotiate a cost for all fellow fishermen and boat owners on this site along with friends/family of the site.
The course is a one day course based in Lymington at my fathers office run by fully qualifed RYA VHF DSC instructors.
The price has been set to compete with any other company out there and will possibly become cheaper dependant on how many people are interested.
The VHF frequency is stilled being monitored and listerned to at the moment by all Coast Guard agencys but is being fazed out very shortly by the new digital marine VHF DCS GMDSS.

The certificate is a legal requirement to use a marine radio, without can results in a court appearance and fine.

The Course will cover the following topics:-

...Distress, Safety, DSC Digital Selective Calling.

...EPIRB SART Navtec. MMSI

...Operating rules, Digital Distress

Your day will be working on VHF Radio all the time so you know how it works and to make you a competant operator of the DSC system.

The course needs 6 persons per course in order to make this financally benefical for yourselves and for training.
