It can be done, but rather you than me! The trick to using braid on a casting multiplier is when you lay the line move it quickly from side to side on the spool so that it lays criss crossed on the spool avoiding any chance of it digging into its self. But be warned you only need one little section to dig in and next cast Keeerack, get the scissors out!

I didnt find a problem with casting the stuff from the beach, the problem was when it was rough, no stretch so the lead got ripped out with the waves! If you do use it, you would need a very soft rod for it to work or mill pond conditions.... I binned the idea after a couple of trips..

Its the speed that the spool rotates on a casting multi that causes the problems combined with the thin diameter and suppleness of the braid. It would work better if the spool was heavily braked so the lead is constantly pulling the line off the spool under tension. With mono the fact that the line is fairly stiff means that if you get a bit of slack line it will still fly off the spoll and through the rod rings with out too much trouble (to a certain extent) but as braid is so supple ant slack is much more sussepatble to to being carried round the spool rather than going through the rod, therefore causing a birdie. As I said it can be done and quite a few people do it but any mistakes could be very expensive. In my opinion, if you want to use braid from the shore a better bet woud be to use a fixed spool reel. You also have the problems set out by deckchair farmer of the lead bein broken out very easily due to the lack of stretch. If you do give it a go let us know how you get on because the added bite detection does seem very appealing!
