Hello all,
New to the site, looks great! Need some help on a boat I have just bought.
The guy I bought it from told me it was made by Island plastics, its a 14ft open Dory, quite similar to the Dell Quay Dory.
I was wondering if anyone out there has the same boat and if so what size outboard they use on it.
At the moment it is fitted with a 9.9 Yamaha 4 stroke (which is in very good condition, has done very few hours) but it doesnt have enough ooomph to make the boat plane.
Suggestions and any advice greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Chap in our club has just bought a 14' Wilson dory (his first boat) that has a 60hp on the back, but its a bit too quick! Probably find a 30hp will give a lot of fun without breaking the bank and will be plenty fast enough. Get used to how the boat handles before opening up.

I would say a 30 is fine as it will plane once it gets to about 10mph. On my CJR I have a 30 that makes it go about 28mph on the GPS, and it burbles along at 18mph all day long at 3/4 throttle and is good on fuel economy.
