I have the Navman 12" plotter amongst the boats electronics and it is my main instrument for finding and fishing marks.
It takes the CT Max card and I have an annoying problem. Most of the time the zoom scale goes down to 0.03 miles which is ideal when plotting a wreck however on a lot of occassions (mainly on my favourite wrecks) it will only zoom in to 0.1 miles.
As you appreciate there is a big difference and you cannot work accurately at 0.1 mile.
I am told by the card manufaturer that this is common place and then certain areas of the sea are deemed more important and therefore programmed with a bigger zoom range.
Has anyone else come across this and did you find a fix? There is a second card slot in the plotter and I did wonder if there was a second card that could give greater accuracy.
It is very frustrating and, if this is correct, I would advise strongly against buying any system that utilises CT Max especially if you wish to fish offshore.

Hi Andy
I can confirm your findings on all C-Map chart cards.
If you check on their web site you will see what scale they go to on what chart.
The same happens when you use the PC Plotter at home to find marks and plot a route.

It is one of those items you buy without a second thought. You assume all electronic charts will give you the same detail.
I wil look more carefully next time and at the offshore scales. Put me off C Map anyhow.
