hi all just noticed on my 2002 mariner 20 2 stroke that it has started pumping water intermitantly it was ok,the previous owner told me he only used it four times from new,it is spotless. i have also noticed that water is coming out half way down where the small pipe which iassume is the water feed passes through any ideas regards dave ;D

it cant be a much m8, the cooling system on most engines are quite simple. to start with check the is no crap floating about in the pipe which goes to the tell tail. after that check the impeller, thay some times thay debond and give intermitent pumping.also make sure the leg has not been left in mud by blowing back down the pump base and check the is no blockage in the gear box, and then blow back up the pipe hanging from the leg and check it come out the exhust. if it still playing up check the thermostat. cheers john

cheers lads it turns out that it is thermostaticly controlled which is why it pumps intermitantly had it serviced all ready to go ;D
