Hi everyone hope you are all doing well. The father in law has just got himself a new boat so I will be going out with him every chance I get,we will be doing most of our fishing off the North Wales coast so what species of fish can I expect to catch {with a lot of luck} at this time of year and in the coming months {has the mackerel season finished yet} Great site by the way Regards Mark

Hi Mark, welcome aboard....good to see a new member from Merseyside. As you will see...most of us are south-coast anglers..so its great to see someone from farther afield.
We will all be looking forward to reading your catch reports... going to get a lot of interest as it will be good to see what species you get and the tactics.
I'm sure you will pick up some stuff from the reports on here....and if you need any advice on the boat then we have all been there and you will finds lots of useful stuff and help available through the forum.
I would have thought that the Mackerel will still be around in numbers your way....I used to fish further north than you and they were still around until well into September....and much bigger fish than we see down south.
Good luck & tight lines Nick

Hi and thanks for the welcome, went out with the boat yesterday , we got to Prestatyn around 9am but the sea was to rough to launch, even the experienced boat anglers werent going out so us 2 newbies had no chance so we decided to take the boat on the River Dee {freshwater}just to take it for a spin.Anyway as we had the fishing tackle on board I decided to have a go at trolling,I tied a 6 inch bass lure direct onto the the mainline of my boat rod and reel and threw the lure off the back of the boat as we went up the river, around a hour later I had caught 2 pike {my first ever }and a very nice perch it made my day.Funny game this fishing isnt it Tight lines everyone

Improvise - nice one Mark. When the weather gets snotty down here I will head for the nearest harbour...still beats sitting at home....and the most importst part of any boat trip is making sure you get home to the family (safe-n-sound) Have you had any advice on anchoring yet ? That's the most scary bit ...that we all have near misses with !
