Right i know someone here will solve this one easily.
I got myself a 4hp Mercury 1988-1989. It was stuck and forgotton in someones garage. He tried starting it so it pulled the old "manky" fuel through the carb.
I stripped and cleaned the carb and she ran well, i also adjusted the mixture and idle speed.
It was also missing the gear select lever as he dropped it and it snapped. I made a lever to fit the shaft so that is sorted.
I checked the impeller which looked good and blew through the water cooling pipe and she has a better steady steam through the tail tell pipe.
I drained the lower unit/gearbox and topped it back up with new gearbox oil. Now it's leaking from behind the prop. It's a very small leak but i would like to fix it.
So my question is how? What seal do i need to buy? Is it just a case of removing the two bolts above and below the prop shaft?
I am gagging to get it on the back of a boat and giving it a sea trial but would like to fix this leak first.
Many thanks in advance.
Andy

Cheers Nick, it's in hand with a now broken bearing housing.
