Hello all
My name is Terry and I am an old git English Engineer generally work and fishing abroad in ten countries abroad snce 1977. I am mainly interested in harbour shore and jetty fishing into water over 6ft, spinning using metal scandinavian type lures and plugs as taught me and learned over six years in Stavanger Norway, hence the email adress. I readily extend to bait fishing with prawns and reluctantly resort to squid when I cant get prawns. In extreme circumstances like currently fishing the med near Benghazi Libya I have resorted to chicken mutton beef and bread with little success. I am very stuck in the mud and always start with spinning 30 gram metal lures on 15lb line on a travel type four piece ugly stick about 2.2meteres long specialy designed for 30 gram lures and a fixed spool that is quite light. All other gear is carried in a small 10x7x4 nylon shoulder bag except for a light but sturdy (I weigh 22 stone) fold up stool that after adaption fits in my suitcase. I home now after my second rotation of 8/3 weeks and will be going back with hopefully a new beastmaster bx rod, a shimano reel braid anf heavier hooks intending to cast out, leave it and do some spinning. I did aquire some frozen squid first time which caught a 1.5 kg trigger fish which tasted delicious. The salted herrings given me caught nothing and if I can get some frozen sandeel in GB I will take it out with me.
Norwegian fishing resulted in vast amounts of cod and flatties which I ate and sea trout coalfish and pollack which I gave away. I also learned to successfully poach trout with bubble and fly In saudi I caught young baracuda and parrot fish-both delicious. In Tokyo estuaries and Bahrain bays I caught nothing. In Iran I caught young barracuda. If ther are any people out ther interested in scandinavian fishing or after fishing info on Stavanger please give a shout. If anyone is into fly or spinning in middle east I do need some info. regards to all
