HI Peeps,
just a quick note to say HI.
I started shore fishing about 2 years ago. This last year I have started to get to grips with it all by asking questions & basic trial & error. Places where I mainly fish are Magazine lane (SOTON) South parade Pier (POMPEY) Stokes Bay (GOSPORT)
I had a fun summer, Caught a 3.3lb bass at stokes & a 4lb smoothie. A 3lb smoothie at south parade as well as a bottle nose eel.
This is my first winter & I'm looking for the Cod hot spot as are most of you. I've tried Hurst castle & Marchwood but no avail. Went to South Parade Pier last Saturday night from 20:00-03:30 but ended up with tiny skooleys.
I'm interested in entering a competition at Lee on Solent in March but not quite sure about the the rules & etiquettes, IE how many rods can you use, do you have to use a particular rig/bait etc.. Any advice would greatly received

Welcome and thanks for the great intro. Hope you enjoy the forum.
Sorry I can't help on the shore comp question either. Try posting a question on the General Fishing Discussions page.
I'll send you a pm with some more spots you may want to try - especially in the summer.
I think the Cod are pretty much away now...unless you go off to Chesil or Dungeness. Not sure that Pagham way is still holding Cod ?
Tight lines Nick

Welcome on board Bloke - good luck with your Comp in March should you enter it - your best bet re etiquette etc would be the local tackle dealer in that area, the rules re rods and hooks etc should be plainly marked on the entry form mate

Yep - the comps each have their own rules, but a typical set up is one rod and no more than two hooks on the rig - may find that two rods and one person is ok, but means entering twice - check for details everytime basically .....
Anyway - welcome to the board mate - might see you down at Mag lane sometime :smiley-happy070:

Hi Guys! Happy New Year! My apologies fr a prolonged absence from the MBs. My PC suffered a major viral attack. While that was easy enough to sprt out, finding my way back to my favoured websites has been a long job. In the meantime I have been turning my inventive mind to "green power" issues. As a result, Huhnie Baby has at least three of my proposals in his in-tray........... 2 in the last week; one of which seems to be creating some excitement. I 'll be back with some off the wall ideas on fishing tackle.
