Greetings cod botherers, has anyone here any experience of using these lighter, tournament styled rods in general use? I already have a pair of Zzipplex 4-5 oz rods but find them just a little too large in the butt section for my liking and having read that the P1s have a parallel butt was wondering out loud if they might be more towards what I was looking for. Also, do suppliers/builders whatever allow folk to try before they buy to your knowledge? Thanks in advance for any advice, Steve

Was looking at this Rod myself, 14ft 3-4oz weighs only 500gms and British Made. Rovers in Fareham are supposed to be 1 of the local dealers but, never seen any in stock, as said Dorset custom rods builds and uses them himself. They are the Mutts Nuts in coarse/game gear and the Torrix beach rods especially the P3 is hitting big distances on field, new Q3 coming out soon(tournament).

Thanks for the mention - www.dorsetfishingrods.co.uk/57.htmlThe P1 is great, it is a fishing rod to be used & to get alot of pleasure fishing. I go to the Dorchester field casting days when I can get there. This allows anyone to have a cast with these rods if they want to. If anyone ever wants to cast one, please get in touch (no charge), just an entry fee to pay on the day to Dorchester casting club which covers insurance. All of the P series of rods are 14ft, 2 section blanks, & I can't forget to mention the P3! I took it to the casting field last time I was up there, gave it to another caster who is used to a Kompressor SS. He thought it had more power than the Century! I use the P2 for most of my general fishing and over grass! P1 Estuary Blank The P1 is the lightest & slimmest in the range. The P1 is the starter in the series making an excellent match rod. Casting 3oz to 4oz leads with ease, and will cast up to 5oz. This is an excellent estuary rod, at 14 ft it allows longer traces to be cast. Tip dia 3.8mm Butt dia 21.5mm Weight 500 grams 14ft, 2 sections

Thanks for the replies gents, I believe my Zippy rods are 22mm at the butt so not a real difference in size and I'm not so sure I'll gain much from getting Harrisons. Time to ponder.
