hi all i know a few of you have the optimax motors,my bro has a 135.has anyone had problems with over revving and back fireing ,on 1st start up,also stalling when knocked out of gear after reversing.he brought the engine from a dealer very low hours and serviced,its been in and out of the dealer since oct last year,so as you can imagine hes not to happy  ,they have said this perhaps this could be a common problem!!!!!  , just wonderd if any one has had any probs? my mate has one and he has no probs whats so ever. it has had a full service in november. any help would be great. rich |

Doesn't sound right to me....Can be anything from low fuel/air rail pressure, can't think why it would over rev on start up without throttle being opened up... hard to start!?. if she runs rough, then start with compression check go from there on the rest. No sensor warnings coming up on computer from dealer?
Sharky (Steve) is the one to chat too as he knows his way round these engines- works at mercury dealer ....either PM him, or i'll let him know.
He might point you in the right direction on this problem.

If Sharky doesn't know the answer then try Scotty...... I'm sure he would appreciate the work and will be cheaper than a service centre

I've been working on mine this evening - deperate to get it finished before the spring arrival of the Tope & Bass; as I missed them last year. Hope he gets it sorted |

Bad fuel ?
Or,
Try coil packs ..............
Pull the leads off (and replace) one at a time to see if the engine noise changes

just found out the old owner put dirty fuel through it!and they say its the injectors??
