I am doing another refit to my Raider at the moment; including the annual stuff, antifouling etc.
I was looking back at the refit I did last year and thought it would be a good idea to let everyone know the stuff that worked well and the stuff that I am now having to repair or replace; after a season of use and some crashing seas
The worst failure was the Jabsco spotlight….*thumbs down*. It broke its mounting whilst pushing over waves in the Solent. It looked good, but they are pretty flimsy construction. I am going to repair it myself – including a modification to make it stronger - and refit it. But I wouldn’t recommend them:

The Attwood bilge pumps in that article are very good; no problems with them at all…*thumbs up*
Next up, windlass and Vetus windscreen wipers

Fitting a windlass was folly really. They are slow and no good on very deep marks. It does work though and dropping the boat back & forth over a bank is certainly very easy. I would say – save your money.
The Vetus windscreen wipers are the dog’s danglers. They are a priceless investment. They clear the windscreen when low temperature condensation is present; they clear rain and sea spray. I reckon they are the best thing I fitted… brilliant.
LED spotlight, cable trunking and deck enamel

The lorry reversing LED spotlight worked impeccably *thumbs up*, although my home made bracket broke and needed replacing. I plan to fit a stainless steel L-bracket this year.
The cable trunking and exterior grip fix worked well and none came free despite the punishment the boat took…so both are on my recommendation list
The warehouse enamel 2-pack paint I used on the deck. I am going to give it a touch up in a few places, but it still looks as good as when I laid it last year…amazing stuff and half the price of marine 2-pack paints. A sound purchase …saves a fortune on marine stuff *thumbs up*
I will get some photos of this years projects …so more trials and tribulations to follow
