….well hardly Lovely weather window and first trip of the year to a spiritual home, Kimmeridge. Perhaps a little optimistic with the plug but it's worked in the past. Bit noisy on the range, sounded like Gadhaffi in Tyneham, either that or Darnsarf's mates blasting away at something. The guy at the marine reserve helpfully checked me in with range control, while I exited the bay east over the ledges and towards St Alban's head. Beautiful morning, barely a soul about, trolled towards Chapman's Pool, just off the ledges in varying depths from 12 – 50ft. Nothing on the FF, not a great surprise. Backtracked over a previous mark near Egmont then on to Chapman's. Tide close to a stand, decided to take a look at St.Alban's. The race quiet, another hour or so and it would be a different prospect. Stuck my nose round the headland, but view disappointing in the mist and haze. Didn't hang around as a reasonably big tide, paddled back and landed below Emmett's hill for lunch. The weather glorious, doesn't get much better than this in March. Leisurely return journey, closed the shoreline and ran the shallows. Spooked a small group of Mullet, marked the spot for next time. 6 hours on the water and about 10 miles paddled, fully refreshed for a real day at the office!
