Plan was to launch at West Bay at last light and head out to a wreck 7 miles away.First fishing launch of the year,I've been training (or trying to ;D)
Got to West Bay and they had closed the normal slipway and there were a couple of excavators and other big machines all parked up,obviously sorting the road out or something
Anyway, found a small slipway at the rear of the harbour, just needed to negotiate a low gate, sorted.
Got launched and paddled out of the harbour and on went the navlight.
As I passed Hive Beach the moon was just rising It was like fishing/paddling in twilight the whole time
Seemed to take ages to get to the mark, the south easterly against me but the tide with me but eventually got there and anchored up in the desired spot.
Water temperature was showing 7.4C,wasn't too hopeful of a Conger filled night.Air temperature wasn't any higher.
First fish of the year ;D Pout
Followed by loads more and heaps of these buggers! ;D
By 1130 I'd had enough and decided it was time to head back.Luckily there was still enough wind to use the sail all the way back
Got back to West Bay just after 1am and couldn't get in the harbour!
The excavators were in the bloody harbour just inside the entrance in the water dredging it by the looks of it ;D
I bet they were surprised to see me ;D
Had to pull out on the beach east of the harbour, despite the bloody palava and the lack of decent fish I enjoyed it but I really need to work on my fitness.
