Hello to all on the site. As I have not fished for many years, I hope you can help me with all the new gear that now is available.
Living in Mid-Wales at the moment so doing a lot of armchair fishing!

Welcome - what kind of fishing are you planning to do to get back into the sport?
I'm definitely not the person to advise on the new gear, but it's the angler that catches the fish, and you should be able to put previous experience to good use.
You do at least have plenty of options as to where to travel. For example, if Cardigan bay's within reach, then you can fish places that don't get fished as often as elsewhere.

Nice to hear from you.
I suppose I'll be doing mostly shore fishing to begin with along Cardigan Bay or down around the Gower. Will be going on holiday to the Isle of Wight in June, so will be giving Totland area a go.
Used to fish there when I was a kid, so looking forward to it.

I never really took full advantage of it when I lived in Swansea , but the Gower's got some wonderful spots. Good luck! I never realised how lucky I was to have it on my doorstep.

Welcome to the forum...I hope you find it a great and friendly experience.
We all enjoy seeing what others have caught - it ignites our passion for angling. So enjoy the catch reports and when you do get the chance to do some sea angling we all look forward to reading about your adventures

Welcome aboard B&B mate, don't forget that anglers catch fish and tackle dealers catch anglers, you don't have to have top of the range or newest gear. Tight lines M.I.B

Hi maninblack,
Its funny you should mention about tackle dealers, when I picked up the catalog to look at what i needed, I thought it was from Clairs Accessories ie. full of bling. All the coloured beads and different lures.
Did buy a new Penn fixed spool reel and a Salt 15ft. beach-caster, had seen the longer rods used in Spain.
Still have my old Martin James reverse taper beach-caster, Penn Delmar multiplier and Garcia Mitchel fixed spool reel. They will all be used still, must be 40yrs. old.......oops showing my age!!!
