Okay well just got in from a ordinary fishing sesh (pout and dogs) but unfortunately had some slight trouble with my reel. The problem is that after i have casted out, i go to turn the handle to is it "lock in the gears", so that i can wind the slack line up; but the handle just spins around freely, it locks in after a while, or locks in straight away. Its bloody annoying to be honest im fearing that ill loose a decent fish or something. I was just wondering if you guys would know whats wrong... At first i thought it could be the anti-reverse but i cant see how it can be! I have stripped it and had a look, but cant see anything- and dont want to do anymore damage Again, the best way i can describe it is that. Once the reel is on free spool, taking it off of this mode onto the "wind in" mode doesn't work well. It doesn't grip in straight away (if you get me). But like i said, its completely random; sometimes it took 5 minutes to get it to stick and other 2 seconds. Can one of you guys help me out? Thanks Alot! Parky

Well as long as you don't catch a fish in the first 5 minutes you'll be OK. Sorry I can't offer more advice! But I'm sure some of 'Reel' Experts on here will.

sounds like it just needs a good clean/service. Most tackle shops will get this done for you if your not o confident of doing it yourself.

i had the same thing when i used to have them reels, i stripped it down cleaned every part i could get to and oiled it up, i suggest not to use wd40 because it drys up quicker than an oil, i found anyway. after i did that it worked fine, no probs after that. hope that helps mate.
