Inspired by Overruns multiple species report from last week I headed for Kimmeridge for a 10am launch this morning Launched and paddled about 100 yards then heard a car horn blowing,,,,it was Overrun who had just shown up ;D Paddled back in for a chat and arranged to meet out on the water. On the paddle to the mark I had managed to pick up 7 mackerel Soon Overrun was out and we anchored on a mark. On the middle 3rd of the tide it was hammering through,I needed 8oz to hold bottom. Had a few doggies and at one stage we couldn't get through the mackerel to get to the Bream There were loads of charters out there but they didn't stay long. Finally I had that unmistakable machine gun bite followed by a fierce scrap and this That was my day complete I started my paddle back and had the coastguard fly over Time to tally up on the slip,20 Mackerel and an eating size Bream Soon James returned, thanks for the mark info and company mate Roll on next weekend

Fri' morning and all loaded for a welsh Tope weekend, by lunchtime the trip off with problems at home and work. Phoned Marc to make my apologies, might be able to get away Sat' eve, he'd just parked-up ready for the weekend. An hour later he phoned back, broken hand/finger while extracting his dog from a fight! finished his weekend early. Saturday given over to chores , Sunday dawned bright and quiet, jumped in the Van and down to Kimmeridge again, hopefully stock-up on Mackerel and Herring. Not for the first time, bumped into this fine chap, just launched: Richie down for an easy day, catch a few Bream, quick natter and “see you out there mate”. Another windless day that you only see in spring & autumn: 4 or 5 charters towards Wagon Rock, headed over to Richie then we both moved to the end of the reef where the current is funnelled. Tide picked-up over the first hour, soon had 8ozs on one rod and 9 on the other, around 55ft depth. Too much tide for Bream I thought, then promptly caught a smallish one, pound or so. The Mackerel arrived, for the next 15 minutes we couldn't get the Bream baits to the bottom! Threw many back, shook others off, still came away with 20 or so and a Launce. Soon as Mackerel eased off, Bream rig hit by a ….Garfish . Couple of hours in and the tide easing, Mackerel gone, occasional Bream bites, all of which I missed. Richie began a slow retrieve of the anchor while fishing, first Bream bite and he connected, pleased to see him land a good fish. Slack water and very quiet. Ambled back, found a solitary small Pollock closer-in, shame we didn't catch any Herring , one of the charters found some judging by the radio traffic. Another fine day, fluked 5 species . As ever, great to chill-out in such surroundings and many thanks for your company again Richie.
