Met up with Glyn (Oddjob) this fine and sunny morning at Tanners - I'd never been there before so wanted to have a recce.
Ready for the off
Weather was glorious from the start and Benny Hill even made an appearance! ;D
I had taken my sail and although the wind was about 5mph tops, I noticed that I was putting in one stroke on the one side for about every 5 of Glyn's, and was sailing about 45 degrees into the wind.
With expert navigation skills (and a lot of luck!) we went straight into Newtown Harbour entrance where we moored up for some lunch.
The tide came in blooming quickly - this was 20 mins after
Glyn forgot his mug so his Earl Grey was demoted to a tuppaware container ;D How common!
We then popped over to the other side of the harbour and had a chat with some locals
It's such a nice place, like the Darling Buds of May!
Heading back was amazing, I'll let the pictures do the talking, but it was probably the calmest day I have ever seen.....absolutely millpond.
Glyn imagining he was paddling past a desert island....
Completely flat.....
Me!
My favourite pic - sums it up
Glyn demonstrating his "It's three knuckles to the left of the big house" advanced navigation technique
Now it wouldn't be one of my trips without a few ignorant tw**s aiming for us and not moving.....
This shows the speed we were moving at with the nasty tide!
and this does too....you've got to be careful out there....

That's about it. Glorious day, good exercise and had a laugh as usual. Cheers Glyn for a great day with none of your usual mishaps! (He did neglect to mention that it was his first time paddling to the Island! )
