Midweek half term and managed to get a short pass from entertaining the kids for Tom and I to spend a couple of hours fishing. With it being so warm with little wind we decided on tackling the mullet. Threw a couple of bits of coarse tackle together and pinched a loaf of bread from the kitchen. Fairly quiet launching from shore road, lots of pleasure yakkers about, but not too many boats The first empty berth we tried as full of fish, feeding freely on our ground bait. Starting catching immediately small bass like this one. We had four from this spot and then I finally managed the ellusive mullet, superb fight on light tackle The fish unusually weren't spooked by the capture and continued feeding from the surface until an elderly couple arrived in the berth opposite and tried to park their 35 foot cruiser. So funny, first they crashed into the pontoon in reverse, then ended up with it at 45 degrees across the berth crushing a much smaller yacht, before a couple of guys from the mariner berthed if for them ;D That spooked the fish Moved around a couple of times and although further mullet were seen we couldn't get them to feed. We had a few more small bass which kept us entertained. A pleasant 3 hours, but it was warm in the shelter, could have done with a breeze ;D

Congratulations on the mullet - though as someone who fishes for them from the shore, I'd find it hard to complain about lack of wind at the moment...

Well done guys....love the tale of the cruiser bumping in to everything; hilarious.
Seen many a Toff do similar and it never fails to entertain. Although I did watch - with anticipation - the skipper of one very large twin-masted yacht come steaming in to the berths around 5-6 knots (far too fast). I was starting to wince, waiting for the sound of destruction.......... but, at the last moment he swung the boat in to one of the bays, hit reverse and stopped the yacht dead in the water right next to the pontoon !!!!! He nonchalantly stepped off - with ease - and tied her up !!!! It was the nearest I have seen to a yachtie-stunt-driver; performing what was akin to a handbrake turn in a car.... pretty impressive
