I had been in contact with my mate Lozz all week, hoping that we would get a suitable weather window for a weekend Selsey launch in persuit of Smuts and Tope.
As the week wore on there looked to be a lovely day for it Sunday, sunny no wind.
This was the scene at launch
We had both been studying the charts and both had the same marks in mind ;D stopped on the way to one of them to fish a hole.Anchored up and straight away Lozz was into a Smoothy
Lozz had a run on his Tope rod shortly after then it went quiet as the tide died away.I was blanking
We decided to move offshore to one of the marks we had been discussing.
Anchored up on mark number 2 and things got busier
I had a steaming run on the full squid and was sure it was a tope but it was a monster Smut PB in fact
We were getting the odd run on the tope rods but couldn't seem to connect.
there were plenty of good size Smuts to keep us busy though ;D
After a while the Squid baits were getting mullered by the Bream so I decided to fish for them.Got a few but they were only small and a few mackerel, one went straight on the Tope rod
A few minutes later and line was getting taken on the rod with the live joey and it was fish on,I bullied it up then it started taking line again, thought this was it.........................
A thornback ;D
And another P.B.
Going back
Lozz had come over from where he was anchored and tied off on my bow shortly before I caught the Ray and while he was hooked up to me managed to hook up to a Tope ;D
Covered nearly 10 miles in all,what a day,what a mark
