As usual I had been watching the weather all week and by Thursday I was convinced I'd be going Sharking.
Came home from work Friday and all had changed conditions had changed and it was no longer condusive to Sharking.
Plan 'B' was looking like a trip over to the Isle of Wight on the ferry for the weekend but when me and Lozz looked at the prices and realised that we could have probably flown to Australia cheaper that one went out of the window too
So,plan 'c' was arrived at by 2300 Friday ;D
We would meet at Bracklesham Bay at 9am Saturday and have a bash at the Medmery Bank.
It wasn't as nice as the forecast Saturday morning and we both took our time rigging up among the scores of divers.
Eventually we managed to drag our lazy a$$es to the beach ;D
And off we went.We had spotted a few boats to the east so set off in their direction as there were a few wrecks and a patch of spoil ground there, they were on the wrecks,we took the spoil ground.
Lozz anchored up and I followed suit but ended up almost on top of him ;D so retrieved a little warp to give a bit of space although we were still fairly close.Lozz was straight into fish,,,Gilthead bream of all bloody things and I couldn't catch b*gger all except my mackie feathers on my pfd and they broke and went overboard. One of those days ;D
At the end of slack we headed out to the Medmery(probably should have headed there earlier as the tide soon picks up round there).
Got to the mark and anchored up again.Fishing was picking up for me here and I was getting loads of Bream bites on feathers baited with Squid and then........................A bloody Smut took my feathers rig
I'm thinking,I've got to get this up as it will probably be my best fish of the day and I did and it was
When I put it back I thought I'd try one of those underwater pics that all the other guys seem to do so well and made a right hash of it ;D
The weather had changed into a beautiful day.My face was getting sunburnt
I couldn't get one of those Giltheads but caught some micro bream
And one lonely mackerel, had heard on the radio that everyone was struggling to catch them.
We had a great day on the water and although we were at Selsey we could see parts of the air show!
The last mark we tried was closer to the Bill and that was full of micro bream. It was good to try 3 new marks.
Around 6pm we headed back,I was able to flip up the sail to make the return journey a little easier
A great day and 10.1 miles covered,it's hard paddling round there,I was too knackered to launch Sunday ;D
