Hi all,
Managed to arrange another visit for late february back down to the Isle of Wight. Would be appreciated if anyone could pass on a few tips for places to give a go for a few fish.
many thanks

Dates would help mate, then you have to take wind and conditions into account.February isnt the greatest month to fish on the Island but it can produce early Rays

I dont know where abouts on the Island you are looking to fish Gnat - Yaverland/Redcliffe will start/is producing small Rays,Whiting already, the odd decent Painted Rays will start appearing down Chale now,if the Waters dirty it can fish just as well in Daylight.... other than that speak to Drew or PM him,he is the font of all knowledge and I bow to him in every aspect of line wetting..........

Hmm, that could almost be plaice time. They came early last year to Hayling - Browners had three on the 28th. Mind you it was a perfect day as I recall - flat clear sea and brilliant sunshine.

I'd definitely give sandown bay a bash at low tide, either yaverland end or in front of the zoo/grand hotel after dark, bluey, mackeral, squid probably the better baits, still a bit early for eels, worm could throw up something too. It's usually best to fish at distance, i've found that wading out in chesties and belting it has produced well, good luck matey

Freshwater Bay
They are catching Bass there , so I have just been told. (wish they rang me last night to let me know).
If it gets too cold/ wet you can go into the Albion Bar and watch your gear out of the window

Thanks for the info guys, where is the best place to park for Yaverland? Can you park at night in the zoo car park?
