As a fisherman I am often disgusted at the crap that some shore fishermen leave on the beaches for someone else to clear up for them.
Today I was walking my 3 dogs along Holes Bay Road in Poole Harbour and although I always try to keep my dogs away from the path and seats that the fishermen use because there is normally so much of their crap lying about that my dogs like to sniff through. Today one of my dogs found a complete 3 hook rig on the grass behind one of the seats, one hook stuck in his mouth and another in his foot!
To say I was angry at the inconsiderate 5h1ts that left their rubbish is an understatement. I am also a considerable amount of money out of pocket because some 4r5e couldnt be bothered to clear up after himself.
In short ... please consider others (and the wildlife) when you leave your spot. Take your tackle, macdonalds wrappers, beer cans and unused bait home with you.

Well said. I used to live in Brixham and when walking around Berry Head you would think a bin lorry had pulled up to the edge and emptied it's entire contents into all of the fishing spots. It made you feel ashamed to be a member of the fishing 'community'

well said lads, years ago i used to look for anglers disgards on a strange beach thinking it would be a productive spot , wrong!!! it was normally the opposite. clear up behind you boys! good anglers dont leave evidence of where to go!. go to any car park on chesil beach in the summer walk 100yards either way on the beach and you will find a hot spot of "rubbish" tight lines and clean beaches lads,

Problem is caused by chav anglers I'm afraid, mostly too thick to consider other folks. I probably pick up some of their stuff and bin it almost every time I go to the beach. I don't know of any solution except extermination of chavs.

Totally agree with all points raised... can i add a little here too!
Old bait...... the amount of times i have gone to a pier (TQ) in southampton for example and have found the remains of Mackerel, Pouting, old ragworm and remnents of hookbaits just lying around waiting for people to slip up on is un bloody believeable.... why dont these anglers just chuck it in the drink to feed the fish or just save it up and bin it after their sesh?? It only takes 1 or 2 inconsiderate "Fishermen/Women" to totally taint the rest of us. It probably wont ever stop until we are all barred from every public hard/pier around. Am off my soapbox now!

Totally agree what's up with these Muppets. Old bait just throw out to sea & all your rubbish just put in the bin that will be at the car park where you are parked, it ain't hard.every beach car park has atleast 1 bin so use it

UNBELIEVABLY I was walking my dogs again today in a different area, well away from where they fish and my other dog swallowed another hook .... the place is littered with them!!!
I have just picked her up from the vets along with a £1000 bill for opening her stomach to remove this inconsiderat 4r5eh0les rubbish.
I am not sure if someone up there has it in for me this week, but I would truly rather he takes it out on me rather than my dogs!

Thanks for the concern lads. The one from Sunday seems to have made a full recovery but the hook was sticking in his cheek so it was a relatively simple case of sedating him and removing the hook then giving him a course of antibiotics. The one today was not so lucky, she actually swallowed the whole trace complete with hooks, swivels and beads. £300 of xrays and over £700 for an operation to remove the hooks.
To be honest, the money hurts but nowhere near as much as seeing my beautiful pup in such discomfort.
I intend contacting the local paper tomorrow and hope that they will put some sort of spread reminding these idiots how much damage their actions can cause. I doubt the ones that leave the rubbish will even care, and have no doubt it will only be the good ones that will even read it.

I post a picture of my poor baby's tummy. Please remember this the next time you drop a trace on the beach or the car park.

It don't take much to put you rubbish in a bag and take it home, but it is the rubbish that normal people don't see, the rubbish that is under water, as a fisherman and more recently a scuba diver i now have a greater respect for our waters and trying to keep them clean, a plastic bag in the water to a turtle can look like a jelly fish which is one of their fav foods, so come one guys and girls, please take your rubbish home, ;D ta
