Hi, thought id take a nice walk down the river medina today with my partner and daughter, to be greeted by some floating dogfish in the quay! Why catch kill then throw away seems cruel and such a waste and its not a nice sight to see really!

Had this debate already, but still a valid one....... Stop this mindless killing of Doggies or any other fish for that matter. Admittedly i have deep hooked the odd fish of which i have had to despatch humanely, but that doesnt exclude these other anglers who kill fish for the sake of a weigh in or because its not the fish they were after!!!

I saw a dead dogfish on the mud at dodnor Saturday evening at low water, guess these were dumped Friday night by some moron who thought they would live in brackish water. The thought was there to return the fish (if they were still alive) but into the open sea would have proved more successful. Respect for the fish you catch should be priority. Anybody know of any comps friday night that had a weigh in at Newport?

Washed up by the shore.....
I walked the length of Stokes bay on a beautiful Sunday morning the weekend just gone. Along the way I came across several dead fish: some fresh, some not. There were 5 or 6 LSDs, a couple of very small rays of a pound or two and a smoothhound.
In this case, none had any signs of hook marks I could see so I'd guess at by-catch/discards, even if one of the doggies was trailing line from its rear end (not the egg-case fronds I thought it was at first).
