I saw an incredible sight yesterday. Three large idiots (certainly not adults) going out of the Hamble River, in to Southampton Water, in an eight foot inflatable dinghy; fishing rods protruding.
Not one of them was wearing a life-jacket, they all wore dark coloured jumpers, with no warm clothing visible. Safety was left on the beach.
And this was the bit that got me.......grrrrr...one was clutching a pint glass 3/4 full of Bitter. I was so saddened by this sight, disappointed by the lack of understanding, the shear inappropriateness; I thought that Lager was the drink of suicidal morons ;D

Paul is practically t-total ......a builder that doesn't drink ! At some of the fishing meets we all attend he drinks coffee. Me....being a southerner...have to have a Pimms ;D To be fair, I thought Paul was odd...sorry, unique...... but the builders doing our house don't drink either. They play squash, go gliding and kayaking ..... I have been forced to see builders in a 'different light'......

There are Morons and then there are total Morons - total waste of a Lifeboatmans time and energy - I LOVE a Pint as much as the next man(or used too)but thats twp pleasures I have never mixed - drinking and fishing dont go together PERIOD.

Round here I think the drinking is a given for some, and the fishing's an afterthought. A teetotal friend who's regularly out and about at sparrowfart was once offered a can by a pair of featherers before 6 a.m.

Im the same as you guys, Ive never once been out with a couple of mates, had a drink and then got upto a bit of fun and mischief, that didnt actually do anyone any harm. Bloody good thing too other wise we could end up getting slated on the internet by people such as ourselves who have never once enjoyed ourselves on the water, or even for that matter had any fun off the water by the sound of things.

Rob
Booze and Boats dont mix - period. Ive done some f*****g stupid things under the affluence of incahol and woke up next to the occasional Moose over the years as a result of beer goggles but Ive never mixed boozing with Fishing - thats just my opinion mate but we are all entitled to have one
