Quite a few years back I read a book about saltwater fly fishing in the USA which I found in a local library (though it's long since marked as " missing" in their catalogue now, and not by my hand, I hasten to add). The main quarry were striped bass, bluefish, and whatever else turns up on the North-East Coast of America.
A couple of months ago I found it through a books website : it's
"Inshore Fly Fishing" by Lou Tabory
I might find it different now, but then I found it a fascinating read full of interesting ideas. I work on the principle that you can apply selected lessons and ideas from angling in one place in another, and I found it fascinating from that point of view. I see there's a newer edition now, not to mention a kindle version, and possibly even a few sample pages online. I'll get round to reading it again sometime (probably when I do eventually invest in some flyfishing gear).
Thought I'd mention it for general interest again now that I've found it. I'm sure I've mentioned it before.
Apart from a lot of stuff about "reading" coastal features for flyfishing - of general use to anyone, I'd think, it has more off-the-wall bits: for example references to "smelling out" fish. In fact, it makes perfect sense as it's all about fishing in places where predators are taking a toll on baitfish which have a distinctive odour, especially when they're being ripped to bits by the predators the angler is after. Just a "whiff" of a lot of interesting stuff covered in it.
