Nipper has just come back from his holidays in the Med.
While he was there he went down the harbour to see about doing a bit of fishing on one of the local charter boats.
'Tuna Fishing Trips 45 Euros'
Well that seemed ok, till he read the small print at the bottom of the poster.
'All fish go to the boat, but you keep the photos!'
Fxxxk off sprang to mind.
He pays to go out and catch fish for someone else? Don't think so.
Still after he told me about it, and I told a few other old farts about it , it seems that this is not unusual to limit what fish you can keep when you go out on a charter.
Word was that down the West Country, it is usually two , the rest goes to the boat.
The skipper takes the punters out to a good wreck and watches them catch him a fortune while paying for the privilege.
Now I don't know what it is like round the Island, and I expect members will reply and give us the full S.P. on it.
But I know I bloody well wouldn't pay 45 euros for a couple of photos and then have to buy some fish on the way home.
If I paid for someone to take me out in a boat fishing I would want to keep what I caught, not give it to them.
Or is that me being a miserable old sod as usual?

never been on a charter in this country thats keeps the catch, but its normal when aboard. all the trips iv done on holiday let you have one fish to give your hotel and have cooked.

Used to happen down the West Country. Geordie Dickenson with Artilleryman is one that immediately comes to mind. Two fish limit remainder for the boat.
There was another from the same port, same rules but the balance of the catch went to the fish market and the cash was divided 50/50. Half for the skipper and half for the crew which offset the cost of the trip.
Don think this happens any more.

I've heard about that too, but I thought it was aimed at Mr & Mrs city dwellers on holiday

I got stung for this from Tenerife, 75 euros for a days trolling, no bait fishing and the tuna and bonito that we had went to the boat, they wouldn't even sell the fish to us!
Never heard of it in this country though i have been on charter trips where the skipper releases your catch (mainly thornies) before asking if you wanted to keep it! No prizes for guessing who though!
