I wouldn't buy anything off the Argies - they are still trying to give the Falklands folk a hard time - including taking as much squid as possible before it gets to Falklands waters.

The Illex we buy comes from the Falklands. They grow as they drift toward the island waters and are usually large enough and plentiful enough for the Falkander's to fish for, once in the Islands fishery. (1 hundred or so jigging boats). The Argies seem hell bent on trashing the fishery by fishing out the squid before they reach 'The Islands'. Government orders, I've read.
Not sure how much is achievable by the argies or how much of the reports are journalistic licence.
Lets hope for the Islanders, the squid and our cod fishing all will be well.
