Interested to know if anyone owns or has ever been on a leeward 18. They look the part, offer plenty of deck space and go on a trailer. So 3 big ticks for me there
Would appreciate if anyone can offer any info on performance/fuel economy of different engines and also how they handle on the drift and at anchor.
Also, if not a leeward 18 then what other boats would be a worthy substitute?
Any info much appreciated
Cheers
Ben

I thought the same but was steered away from them by Mark from just fishing boats. Crap apparently! Can't remember the reasons he gave me but knows what he's talking about. As for a recommend, there's so much out there but it depends on what tou have to spend......

That guy Mark steers you away from every boat except the ones he's selling!

If you are still looking for info on the Leeward have a look on my website www.fishing-boats.info you will find a report from an owner of one. He thought they were great. Dave

Hi
I have a Leeward 18 with an inboard diesel engine for the last 18 months.
This boat is great as a stable fishing platform, performance and economy
Before this I had a Warrior 165 pro angler, which in it's own right a very good boat, but you cannot compare this to the Leeward.
Anyone who said they are not any good, have not been out in one. I have taken different people out from our boat fishing club and they all rave about my boat after a trip. If you can afford it and can find one, go and look at it, you won't be sorry.
My boat will be shortly up for sale as my ex want's her pound of flesh. If your interested

Leeward 18 is a sturdy built boat, used the earlier ones built on the island. quite heavy for its size. Needs 70 to 80 hp engine. goes well , anchors well.

Now thats what I wanted to hear.....something positive about the boat from owners/past owners.
I like the fact that they are heavy sturdy boats. i want a boat that i can use and give a bit of shite to without fear of it foundering.
The impression i got was that they must be pretty good as there are not many, if any, second hand examples on the market - suggesting people who have em keep hold of them.
Gdk - would like to hear more about your boat. had thought more about an outboard version to allow more deck space but you never know......
