So yes some of you may have read this on AA but figured i would post on here too.........
i have been a bit lazy recently, No not at work thats been busy and also been catching up with a few bits around the house too and have so far had 6 launches out on the Kayak! but never had a great deal to shout about hence the lack of reports! well today is Catchup on the Cathcups!! ;D
First report is from February!
Fishing; Me and Ian (DIYMAN)
Location; Folkestone Warren. (a mark i fish during the summer for Bass)
Bait; well i normally take a bit of everything! ;D
So we pulled up about 9oclock saturday morning and all we could hear was the sound of thunder!! although it was bright and sunny albeit a little bit Chilly the noise we were hearing was a horrendous shore dump. a good 4-5ft wave crashing on a shingle/sand storm beach. this was going to be fun!
Ian got ready to launch and set off!
Although the water never let him get more than 10ft from the beach before a wave tipped him turtle and he ended up back on the beach Minus His ....................... GoPro Hero3 Black (on its first trip out) needless to say there was plenty of swearing and searching. Nadda so we drank coffee and kept looking and after about 45minutes we found it (or i did ;D ) and it had washed up exactly where i said it would. so we reset to relaunch.
the swell had calmed a little but still smashing up the beach........... Ian launched ok but it was my turn to get wiped out. i righted the yak and watched as my loose bait in my crate disappeared into the waves I retrieved what i could see floating but lost my fresh black lug and some joey mackerel! But wait where were my reels? yep with Davey!! much swearing and coffee and searching we retrieved said reels again after about 30 minutes (Ian repaid the favour this time). so i reset and we both set off. At this point normally i would have gone home but as the photos show it was a lovely day and a trip i really wanted todo!
we paddled out for 45 minutes and anchored ourselves in about 60ft of water i had a friend who joined me for about 30 minutes before departing!
those who know me will know that my preferred method is to fish uptide. thus anchoring from the front this works for me as i get to see what is coming but today fishing was a bit slow.................. to be honest i had not had a bite although i didn't really have a great selection of bait left so i had a play in the Kayak practising sitting side saddle to which i found easy in the Prowler T13 although i found it easier to the left than to the right! i also tried anchoring from the rear............. Why do i do this to my self? after about 10 minutes for no reason at all i found my self in the water, so inadvertently practising a self rescue still it was a nice day for it the rods stayed leashed ok the tackle box floated and i stayed hooked to the yak in the 2.5 knot tide although i watched my chopping board, fillet knife and what was left of my bait disappear i sorted my gear what was left and righted the yak. back on board decided i had enough and up anchored and paddled over to Ian to let him know that i was heading back in!! i landed and packed up. upon getting home i ordered one of these. and decided to continue anchoring from the front!!
after some modding no more lost tackle!!!!!!!! but i did end up with a service bill for my 2 reels which were full of sand!!
2nd Trip
Fishing; Me, Diyman (Ian), Simon (Frosty), Carl (Carl), Wincey and Dominic (Ians Mate)
Location The Warren atempt 2
Bait; again i had pretty much all bases covered
Date 9-3-2013
a bit of a mini meet, wanted to try this mark the last time i went fishing here but if you are reading this you probably know why i did not get here!! so we all collect bait from my good mate Peter Owen and parked up at the Warren in folkestone.
The warren is a great venue i have caught plenty of Bass here and it was the site of my first Kayak Launch the only issue is the gate. seen behind Ian and Simon Here. Ian was also stealing simons paddle for the day!
you can have any kayak you like as long as its an Ocean Kayak!! ;D ;D
The plan was to fish a 100ft of water i found on the charts we paddled with the tide and soon found our self here.
really is some lovely scenery but was a tad misty on the day
Simon and his Can you see me ok Flag!
Ian and Dominic a bit closer in
after a couple of hours the tide turned and i pulled out this! a point for the danglers!!
we gave it another 30 minutes and paddled back with the tide. here was the route, we covered nearly 10 miles of paddling in total. or i did anyway as my anchor tripped twice ! and that tide did run......
