Saw a photo of the above this afternoon
Lunker fish caught Saturday Night down the back of the Island weighing an inredible 18lb 1oz - rather than kill the fish to claim the official record (plus its illegal I believe)the fish was returned to get bigger

Ian Mick the Bait has a picture of it on the computer T,was a Beautiful Fish and the captor could have knocked it on the head and claimed all sorts of goodies but chose to return it

I totally agree with putting it back but just for info it is not illegal to kill them but they are a protected species and commercial landings are banned.
On last years 'Fishermans Apprentice' there were a couple dead in the fish basket in one camera shot. In subsequent shots they had been turned belly side up so you could not see the markings!!
Bit naughty that.

Further updates - there were 2 seventeen pounders and a 13 pounder caught over the weekend - dont think the records going to last very long

Spot on for returning this fish, and exactly what I would have done, more of a prize to put the fish back and let it swim away in my opinion.
