Hi all, I have a suzuki dt 40 and when I start it up, an alarm sounds. It sounds off intermittently with the engine in a tub, and as I am still in the process of rebuilding the boat, have not had it out on the water yet, but I am concerned about what this could be. If anyone has any ideas, it would be great. Dave

Hi Dave
Is it 2 or 4 stroke?
Are you getting water from the pee hole?
When was the water impellor replaced last?
If 2-stroke does it have a seperate oil tank? If so is there enough oil?
Does the alarm only come on when it's hot? (Thermostat problem?)
As you can see need a bit more info.

Dave.S Hi Dave, It's a 2 stroke and I am getting water from the pee hole, but it's a bit more complicated than that, because the water (on tickover)seems to stop after about 30 seconds, and if you lift the lever to increase revs, it starts "peeing" again. Not sure when the impeller was last replaced, so have gone and bought one, just need to learn how to do it ;D It's an oil injection model, With just under half a tank of oil, and I have oil "in the post that should be here any day now (local chandlers "none in stock" ) The only thing that I did with the oil tank was move it to the side when I had to make room to get at the butterfly/choke assembly to free it, as it was seized in the open position (lack of maintenance by last owner) and it all went back (I was very careful) The alarm comes on almost straight away, and the block is not hot to the touch, just warm. Any thoughts appreciated and thanks for taking the time to ask the questions. I realise that I should have put more details down to get any answers (sorry). Still quit new to all this. Dave

Even on tick over water should be peeing out all the time, I would change the impeller in the first instance

Hi all, well as a total idiot when it comes to mechanics , I watched some you tube vids on changing impellers and done the job myself, AND IT WORKED (rofl)Loads of water out of the pee hole. Also, the oil level was about 1/2 way down so topped that up and every thing now seems to be working OK with no alarms sounding off. So I feel very pleased with myself Thanks to everyone that posted and tight lines Dave
