Same fish keith have a look at this thanks again . Spanish mackerel. Scientific name scomber japonica. Also known as a chub mackerel , pacific mackerel. Uk shore record 1lb 10 oz. but in warmer waters can grow up to 2 foot in length and 3lb but typically here in the uk around 1foot for 1lb . The difference between this and a normal Mackey is the chub mack has 1 difference , is that it has a swim bladder , while uk Mackey has not . Still they are close family members but are not the same and known as uk name chub mackerel (scomber japonicus ) and the other one known as a Atlantic Spanish mackerel (scomberomorus macularus)
