Probably going to make myself unpopular and once again its regarding an Undulate Ray
but for Chrissakes cant these big comps be zoned and have Stewards so these Magnificent fish
dont have to get knocked on the head for the weigh in? All the big comps on the mainland

Clive I totally agree hence why I never enter comps to many comps now you have to kill fish take it to a weigh in all for the sake of trying to win the comp with dwindling fish stocks now its about time it was looked at I rember a time we use to go dwn back for rays and plagued by pout and doggies now your lucky to even catch a few pout and doggies in my opinion it should be all catch and release as you say stewards on beaches will solve this I haven't heard what fish were caught in the open but I take it by this blog it was a ray that won it any way good post Clive if it upsets few ppl tuff it's the truth and I totally agree with you

Its good to hear anglers spreading the culture of C&R for endangered species... Undulates are a really special catch; so safeguarding the future stock is down to everyone...anglers and commercials

Omg dont get me started on weight matches, I really cant believe that in these times of losing fishing venues, mczs, antis, and litter we still rock up to a "weigh in" and then go our seperate ways, it beggars belief, im not against people going fishing and whacking dinner on the head, but im sick of seeing dead stingrays/undulates /etc .......... if we dont learn from the past, and become just a little more aware we are in trouble,,,,,,, come on people, steward up, we managed to monitor 95 people over a mile in our comp, four peopleand some walkie talkies, im sure most would pay a few sheckles etc in the entrance fee if it helped police the match, and watch a stunning ray swim off, you guys on the iow are very very lucky, we only see one or two rays a year over our reefs, consequently I dont know of any of the captors killing them, sorry rant over
