Well lads, I just got my butt kicked by Mrs Old Fart, for being miserable.
You know the news that we had ,and the first thing she said was let's have a party.
most people couldn't get their heads around that, but as she said 'you can't party when you are dead'
It was a good party, next one Xmas!!
Now back to the fishing.
As we all know autumn is the time for heavy weed on and off the beaches. We also should all know that the flies all lay all their eggs in the weed, so that when we get a storm all the maggots etc get washed out to sea and the fish rush in to get the beach equilivient of Mc Donnalds free food. (Except the seaweed and maggots tastes better, that is why they put relish on the burgers ) But....... When I have tried this, all I have got is line after line of weed and bugger all fish.
So ,and I would really like a bit of response on this, because I have fished weeded waters for years and quickly given up,,,has anyone really had any joy catching fish in heavy weed, or should we all pack up and go home. Via the pub of course!

Seen some amazing pictures of bass galore and mullet from seaweed maggot releases; but in a book ...Operation Sea Angler. Took place on the Dorset Coast. It really captured my imagination.
They were all using salt-water fly fishing tactics. Shoukld keep you above a lot of the weed and the fish will readily rise to the floating bait
