As we all know we had a storm yesterday, and sure enough the beach was crowded yesterday afternoon with people and families watching the waves build up.
What I couldn't believe, and I have seen it so many times, is people's total lack of respect for the sea.
I saw parents stand there and watch their children chase the waves down the beach then run back as the next wave crashed in.
Do these idiots have no brains?
One slip and the kid is gone. The sea is unforgiving.
We who fish should have some sense about how to treat rough weather and always go on the side of caution, but the general public amaze me with their stupidity.
When I pointed out the danger I was told to 'mind my own business as the kids were having fun' .
One young lad died yesterday when he was swept away,my heart goes out to his family.
From this Old Fart, always treat the sea with the greatest of respect when you are fishing, because the sea has no respect for you.

Have you ever watched Bondi Rescue ?
Fly-on-the-wall documentary following the lifeguards on Bondi Beach. Now that is something to behold...the stupidity of such a large number of people....like lemmings :-)
