Ah, it appears that I gave you some duff info.
The Cod you will most likely to catch at Boldner, are not in fact Cod, but are Codling as they are under six pounds.
My mate tells me they arnt proper Cod until they are that size.
Still it's a start.
I know there's some being caught off the chairlift at Alum Bay, but you have to be quick because it goes round quite fast.

I wouldnt beat yourself up Sharpey - I have fished for fifty years and never caught one from the Shore. I took my youngest Daughter down Seaview one Night a few Octobers ago, baited up and cast out for her and she pulled in a 2lb Codling...... I still get reminded of this

That's why you should never take young kids fishing.
they always catch something, and never ever fail to remind you about it at every opportunity.
Worse still the wife and family also love to remind everyone about the time that'Little Jimmy went fishing and caught that big fish, and he had never been fishing before, but his dad goes every week and catches nothing'.

Nipper,,, they catching Cod off the waterfront at Totland (best place to go as you can sit having a pint or two and watch yer rod) Off Hetherwood Point, Alum Bay, or where I said. Plenty of the little buggers out there, but are they Cod or Codling? From what I been told they all Codling under 6 pounds. Still got to start somewhere
