Ive always borrowed gear for boat fishing and with my determination to catch a cod this year want to do it on my own rod so my question is what class of rod am i looking at for winter needles fishing, dont want to bust up if i get into decent fish

The latest Uglystik, 20lb class will suffice. They are cheaper than the model they replace and are terrific value and still unbreakable (Unless you shut them in the car door) around £60 in most places.

I'm certainly not going to disagree with a skipper but does that still stand up ok with a huge lump of lead and with the tide running hard? If so i've been fishing far too big!!
